Reporting: The Consultant will report directly to the Communications Lead.
Duty station: Preparation work to be done remotely, filming and photo during the Assembly will be at Constitution Hill Johannesburg, South Africa 17-18 November 2025 and the Summit in the same location 20-22 November 2025 ; the consultant is required to attend all scheduled meetings and events related to the scope of work, as necessary.
Background
In November 2025, South Africa will host the G20 Leaders’ Summit. In response, movements across the Global South and globally will converge in Johannesburg for two historic events: the Fight Inequality Alliance Global Assembly (17-18 November 2025) and the We the 99% People’s Summit for Global Economic Justice (20-22 November 2025). These events will act as movement-led counter-spaces to the G20, amplifying grassroots voices and advancing demands for economic justice, climate justice, and debt cancellation, while showcasing alternatives to the dominant global economic system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign a producer to work with the Fight Inequality team to work on content planning, questions for speakers who will be featured.
- Assemble a qualified team of videographers, editors, and sound technicians.
- Secure all necessary equipment for pictures, filming and audio recording.
- Capture high-quality video and audio footage adhering to the agreed-upon shot list and storyboards.
- Develop and edit all videos according to the project timeline and feedback.
- Deliver final video files in the designated formats and specifications.
- Deliver live streaming during the Global Assembly
Objectives
The communications, photo and video production will:
- Document the Fight Inequality Global Assembly and the WeThe99 People’s Summit to create a powerful archive of the events and their impact.
- Amplify grassroots voices, movements, and narratives across global, regional, and national social media channels.
- Deliver multimedia content aligned with the overarching G20 #WeThe99 campaign, communications, and mobilisation strategy.
- Produce outputs in vertical, square and landscape formats for distribution across multiple platforms (social media, potentially broadcast).
- Support live and digital participation for the Assembly by providing high-quality live streaming and real-time digital content and engagement.
Deliverables - all to be subtitled and captioned:
- VIDEO
- 15 videos featuring speakers from global assembly participants (varied national representatives)
- Record them saying “We the 99” in their language, and ask them “What are you drawing your red line against”, and “What would you do if you were in charge?” ○ Vertical, landscape, and square formats for social media distribution.
- 12 Regional Speaker Videos
- Three videos from each region

- 6 Daily highlight videos - 1 minute each capturing key moments from each day of the event from 17 -18 November and 20-22 November. Vertical, landscape, and square formats for social media distribution. Completed for distribution by 07:00 following morning.
- 2 final summary videos - 3 minutes each one from the Assembly and one from the Summit to be delivered for approval by 27 November.
- B-Roll of activities around the Assembly, the Summit, the Concert and the stunt.
- Projection: A projection of the key narratives and alternative demands to be used at G20 People’s Summit [which should be mirrored with digital content too] Ready by end of day 19 November 2025.
- PHOTO
- A curated bank of 200+ high-quality photos including:
- Reportage, and portraits, key action and activities shots across the full five days.
- High quality shots of the concert (crowd and acts) and final stunt.
- STREAMING
- Video equipment and set up for Live Streaming sessions in Assembly. One camera stage focused, and one roving to be used for live streaming sessions on 17 -18 November. Streaming production and virtual engagement to be managed by the agency on site.
PROCESS
- Pre-Production:
- Consult with FIA convenors and Summit organisers to align content with campaign and mobilisation goals.
- Develop scripts, storyboards, and shot lists based on agreed narratives and campaign demands.
- Identify and brief grassroots speakers, movement leaders, and champions to be featured.
- Prepare equipment, crew, and logistics for filming and photography in Johannesburg.
- Production:
- Capture high-quality photo and video footage during the FIA Global Assembly (17-18 Nov) and the People’s Summit (20-22 Nov).
- Cover plenary sessions, breakout discussions, artistic performances, protests, and iconic actions.
- Provide live streaming capability for the Assembly with multi-camera setups and online engagement.
- Record grassroots voices and testimonies for the #WeThe99 campaign.
- Daily edit and production of daily review videos for use from 07:00 the next morning.
- Ensure gender, regional, and youth representation in all captured content.
- Post-Production:
- Edit highlight reels and two final event films (3 mins) capturing the narrative of both events.
- Produce advocacy videos showcasing movement demands (debt cancellation, tax justice, climate justice).
- Deliver final outputs in multiple formats (vertical, square, and landscape) optimised for social media and traditional media.
- Provide subtitling, captions, and translations where necessary.
- Deliver a photo bank with high-resolution, captioned images for movement use.
Practicalities
- Medical and Life Insurance during the assignment: The responsibility of the Consultant.
- Terms of Payment: The consultant will be paid upon 60% upon signing of contract and 40% at end of contract upon completion of task approval by General Secretary.
- Copyright and Ownership: All rights and ownership of the final products, b-roll video materials and images will be transferred to the client upon full payment. This Terms of Reference serves as a comprehensive outline for the video production project for the event.
